DEPTH AND SOUL.

These are the twin foundations every interior should possess, or at least aspire to attain.

Yes, I'm discussing spaces as if they possess a heartbeat. However, when you consider it, our homes serve as mirrors of our humanity, whether we consciously or subconsciously craft them to reflect certain qualities.

Interior design goes far beyond simply adorning a wall with a beautiful painting or selecting a tile for a kitchen backsplash. Each decision demands thoughtful consideration, triggering a sequence of events that influences the subsequent choices, creating a beautiful chain reaction. And that's what captivates me – the intricacies, the problem-solving, the interplay of artistry and technical know-how that I, as an interior designer, orchestrate daily.

I've been immersed in this field for seventeen years, and no two days are alike. Even before I entered a college classroom, I knew I was destined to be a designer. Both my parents were artisans in their own right. They conceived ideas, and I eagerly followed in their creative footsteps. My father, a musician, and car enthusiast, breathed life into classic automobiles. My mother, a skilled seamstress, fashioned outfits just for me. I cherished being the only second-grader in a custom romper crafted from fabric I handpicked. My fascination with style and personalization began long before I fully grasped the intricacies of interior design.

When I graduated from college with a design degree in hand, I embarked on a fortunate journey. I had the privilege of working under the guidance of a brilliant designer in San Antonio who not only honed my design skills but also shared the hidden insights of the trade. Under their mentorship, I learned the art of gracefully balancing the roles of an interior designer and a business owner.

After several years of invaluable tutelage, life took an unexpected turn, and I found myself leaving Texas for the picturesque landscapes of Vermont with the man of my dreams. It was in Vermont that I laid the foundation for Holly Hickey Moore Interior Design.

Over my five-year tenure in Vermont, I accumulated a wealth of experience in both running a business and designing homes in a vastly different climate, culture, and architectural context. I started with just a single rug order for a client, not knowing a soul in the area. However, before long, I was handling entire home projects, including a stunning ski chalet that earned recognition in New England Home Magazine.

I attribute the success of my journey in New England to the incredible clients who took a chance on a Texas native in their region. Through their trust and support, I forged enduring relationships and built a remarkable portfolio that I am truly proud of.

We returned to the Lone Star State nearly six years ago and planted our roots here in Dallas. This time, I found myself starting from scratch once again, but now as a proud mother. Motherhood has undeniably shifted my perspective on design and how I approach the intricate details.

While being a mom certainly influences my design choices, my primary source of inspiration and guidance as a visionary remains travel. Travel offers me the chance to infuse my clients' homes with a distinct global flair, drawing on worldly influences to shape their living spaces. Witnessing the sheer delight, joy, and gratitude in their eyes is what motivates me day in and day out.

Before I get carried away, I must emphasize a vital detail. When you admire those custom sconces gracing the fireplace of our client's Vermont Ski Chalet or the green shag rug meticulously replicated from the original shag in our empty nester's Mid-Century Modern home, it's crucial to recognize that it's not solely my work that brings these visions to life. It's a dedicated and talented team of tradespeople, individually selected for each project, who collaborate harmoniously to bring these designs to fruition. It's this collective effort, along with the unwavering support of my wonderful clients, that makes all of this possible.

The culmination of these elements allows me to infuse my interiors with the essence of depth and soul.
